To my many blog readers in Russia:

I have always been an Anton Chekov fan.

When my play Biyaheng Timog was premiered at the Cultural Center of the Philippines two decades ago, the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre and his staff attended. They gave me many gifts, including a paperweight with the reliefs of Konstantin Stanislavskii and Anton Chekov.

I asked them to give me a Russian playwright pen-pal--alas, they said that such a thing was forbidden!
