To detect spam or a hacker in your e-mail, make your cursor hover over the return address (e.g. "Yahoo Account!"). The REAL return address will appear on the screen--and it usually belongs to an individual with a name.

For example, I received the following:

U-N

To

studioantenor@yahoo.com

• Reply, Reply All or Forward | More

I placed my cursor over "U-N" and the following appeared: joanne.mcgowan@bt.net. 

Note: There is usually an attachment, which you should not click on, download, or view.

It was extremely tempting to copy and paste the address in a separate message and say, "Dear Joanne, I know that even low-life has access to the Internet, but don't you really have anything better to do?"

Of course I did not even bother to reply--and neither should you.
