I always work with complementaries, especially to create shadows.

--Red and Green
--Blue and Orange
--Yellow and Violet

If you mix each pair, you end up with gray.

That is why, despite the protests of all art teachers, I have always believed, and will continue to believe, that black and white are complementaries.
